We were just featured in a Daily Astorian article about the new Carrier Air Purifying Unit that was so graciously donated by P&L Johnson Mechanical! This will help so much in keeping our community members safe during this time.
Also, learn a little about our new Executive Director, Kathleen Sullivan. Thank you so much to Paul Radu from P&L, Ron Maxted (AWC Board of Directors), and Katie Frankowicz for reporting the story. For the whole story please check it out at: https://www.dailyastorian.com/coronavirus/astoria-warming-center-prepares-for-covid-season/article_24fd7a64-1d22-11eb-83f3-7baeb5859368.html

As you're getting ready for the cold season, so are we! We could use blankets, sleeping bags, and heavier clothing for winter such as hoodies and sweaters and always jeans jeans jeans!!! Rain gear of any kind is always appreciated as well! If you're cleaning out your closets, please think of us! The AWC couldn’t exist without our fantastic donors and volunteers. And we’d especially like to recognize the businesses and organizations that are still providing major support for the upcoming 2020-2021 winter season, including:
Please let these businesses and organizations know that you appreciate their support for AWC. The Astoria Warming Center provides overnight shelter during the winter months for people experiencing homelessness. The overnight shelter will be open on a weather-dependent basis from November 15, 2020-March 15, 2021.
We are still providing showers at the AWC on Wednesdays from 12:00-4:00pm through this pandemic. Please follow all social distancing guidelines. From the AWC Board, many thanks to all the wonderful volunteers and staff who make it possible to keep the Warming Center open this season, and for 90 nights last season! |
